About

Greenfield Inc. is the vibrant band of saxophonist Rinus Groeneveld and bassist Eric Barkman. They have been around for many years in the Dutch jazz scene. Together with guitarist Jeen Rabs and Victor de Boo on drums, they play live shows full of unexpected twists, always danceable and for a wide audience (young and old). Next level jazz and funk with groovy own tunes like S.O. Jazz and Bogus Blues, creatively edited popsongs like KungFuFighting and hits from for example James Brown, the Bee Gees and Grace Jones. When these guys perform, something is happening; on stage and with the audience!

Greenfield Inc. is the ‘talk of the town’ on Thursday evenings in Amsterdam. Every week there is a long line deep into the Korte Leidsedwarsstraat. There first EP will be released the second half of 2025.

Rinus Groeneveld

Sunirae (Rinus Groeneveld) started with flute and tenor sax and played with Hans Dulfer & De Perikels, Dexter Gordon, Tete Montulio, Big Jay McNeely and De Bluesbastards, among others. Over the years he performed in - and leaded - various funky, poppy jazz and blues formations. Rinus is known for his unique warm blowing technique and occasional fat 'ripping' sound.

Sunirae comes from a large family and his brothers and sisters brought him all kinds of records. From Fats Domino, Ella Fitzgerald and Ray Charles to The Four Seasons and Mozart. One of the reasons he is always willing (even hungry) to try everything.

Sunirae also has his own analog studio, where he records many bands and artists. And in 2024, he published an impressive book, Tenoritus, about living with the condition tinnitus. He describes the great impact it has on his life, but especially how resourcefully he deals with it.

Eric Barkman

Eric Barkman is a bass player in body and soul, known for his solid beat and energetic appearance on stage. After years of playing the piano and saxophone, he taught himself to play the bass.

At home in many music styles, preferably playing the bass guitar and electric double bass (stick bass), he has been the regular bass player for more than 20 years of top saxophonist Hans Dulfer. Eric also made several CDs and performed with other many renowned musicians, such as Benny Wallace, Ingram Washington and Joseph Bowie (Defunkt).

With Greenfield Inc. Eric can do what he likes the most: all kinds of music styles, unexpected songs and groovy bass effects.

Jeen Rabs

Jeen plays the guitar since he was 8 years old. Influenced by blues, the music of that era, the classical guitar soon followed. He switched to jazz at the Conservatory in The Hague and studied Brazilian guitar in Rio de Janeiro. Jeen is always searching for new musical adventures around the world, music is his language.

Jeen performed and recorded with Toots Thielemans, Lucien Barberin, James Morrison and many known Dutch artists.

His style of playing is rooted in jazz music but his heart beats also faster for pop and Brazilian music.
